For thousands of years the many souls have been incarnqte over and over, as different people with different features, sometimes as different sexes. It’s a book that could easily appeal to any reader, with elements of light and darkness that make it incredibly riveting and unforgettable.

There’s also a serious lack of a strong antagonist, with Li, Ana’s vindictive mother, never acting as a true threat, seeming more like a de-clawed Lady Tremaine from Cinderella. The writing was lyrical, each word was chosen very carefully and beautifully by the author. I had no idea what stories or information they held.

Obviously, as a reader I wanted everyone to be instantly accepting of Ana, but at the same time, I could see why they weren’t. There’s kind of an insta-romance between them, but it didn’t really bother me that much. She may have had a hard life, but this makes her loves and joys come from the heart.
